The core aim of the Multimedia Publications Module is to offer a truly simple on-line and facile environment, for the production of advanced multimedia publications, without the expected compromises inherently related to similar initiatives. Issues directly related to similar environments, public or private, spanning from educational to commercial use, are numerous. Most common constrains are:
The anticipated optimal demonstration -realized as a pilot application- for the EUEDOS MPM, would be in the area of "sustainable cultural publications". Besides being a major promoted activity in the FP7 range of invited calls in education and creation of thematic networks, cultural content is also one of the most tormented and difficult to create, maintain, expand and sustain areas, in both social or educational realms. A challenge to assess, where DAEDALUS Informatics has been already engaged during the last 12 years, with a very notable success and experience.

Authoring environment
- a) the pre-requisite for the user to have a significant knowledge and understanding of the technological infrastructure related to the technology used for the production of a specific context layout. The evident constrain is that context masters and authors, do not usually possess such skills, and the requirement of such skills would also mean dependency on a much more error-prune context compilation environment.
b) Using an advanced fully on-line environment for multimedia publication production, would imply a cumbersome engineering feat with today's tools and technology. It is barely possible to design and implement such an advanced on-line interface today, with available tools -like JAVA- and existing technological constrains (like CPU power used either for servers or for clients, available bandwidth, etc.) Very few users realize that building a SOA-centric application, has practically very little to do with what we are used to have so far, which is local applications -nearly everything we run on our computers with a rich interface and a rapid response. On the other hand, very few developers realize that the WEB 2.0 era, has very little to offer towards what users dream to have as a usable on-line environment.
c) Having access to an envisaged on-line environment for multimedia publication production, could not be considered a self -sufficient action. If such a system could become truly useful, it should -apparently- be able to engage collaborative work from a very range of users; they should be able to append and expand other authors works, they should be able to safeguard IP rights, they should be able to work on an open architecture, perpetually expandable publication(s), they should enjoy a truly object-oriented environment, where changing parts of the context compositional constituents (i.e. a picture in the page) it is done without access to the page code, whilst the page is automatically updated, among so many other endeavors. A commonly missed notion, is that in order to achieve these benefits -among so many more omitted- such an ambitious authoring environment, must work in close relation to an equally advanced repository environment.
